CSAAE believes that the poultry industry can help many farmers and communities out of extreme poverty. We also strongly believe in the nutritional benefits of poultry meat and eggs, as a good source of protein to families.
Launched in 2020 with funding from Foundation for Partnerships Initiative in the Niger Delta (PIND), this project builds the capacity of poultry farmers in the Niger Delta to improve productivity and reduce mortalities on their farms, in order to make additional incomes. The project has supported over 12,000 poultry farmers across Imo, Rivers, Delta, Abia, Edo, Cross River, Ondo, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa states with technical and business skills, and linked them to quality inputs, finance, off-takers and market.
The pilot phase of the project was launched in 2022, in Ebonyi state, where several women were trained on modern poultry farming, and winners of the enterprise pitch were supported with inputs (DOC, vaccines, drugs, feed, etc) to start out their poultry farms. In 2023, CSAAE plans to expand this intervention across the South East region to support more women with legimate sources of income through poultry farmers.
