About CSAAE

The Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE) is a non-profit dedicated to helping young people build great careers, cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurship, become leaders of character, and embrace their roles as critical actors in building a better Africa.

Our vision is to build a better Africa where everyone can find support and encouragement to work hard, live with dignity and feel proud to belong. The Centre pursues its vision through three distinct programs that share the common goal of creating positive social, economic, and political change, one person at a time. They are:

• The Effective Leaders Program (ELP)
• The Career Building and Entrepreneurship Program (CBEP)
• The Youth Ethics and Anticorruption Program (YEAP)

ELP nurtures leaders committed to the development of Africa. CBEP helps youths get the education they need, secure jobs or build enterprises that contribute to the development of Africa; while YEAP raises the consciousness of youths to the importance of ethics, good governance, rule of law, anticorruption, and respect for human rights towards the development of Africa.

CSAAE is a registered nonprofit in Nigeria and a 501(c3) nonprofit in the United States with subsidiaries across the globe, an organization in special consultative status with the United Nations’ ECOSOC, and former representative of African nonprofits at the World Bank & IMF. The Centre carries out its operations from its head office in Owerri, Nigeria, with technical support from its U.S. office in Maryland.

The Founder, Dr. Godswill Agbagwa – Catholic priest, ethicist, socialpreneur and youth animator – grew up in Nigeria. While studying abroad as a graduate student, he was struck by the contrasts he saw between the levels of underdevelopment in Africa as compared to the Western countries he visited. Those experiences became the genesis of CSAAE, its programs, and the five core values at the foundation of his work: punctuality, integrity, creativity, accountability, and solidarity (PICAS).
