IMF PARTNERS WITH CSAAE TO TRAIN SELECT CSOS

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have been identified as key actors in development.  International Monetary Fund(IMF), an agency of the United Nations, has noted remarkable success in achieving her mission through symbiotic collaborations with CSOs; and as a result, has, over the years, created engagement platforms for this purpose.

From the 12th -14th Nov., 2019, IMF engaged the leaders of selected CSOs in a one and half day workshop. As proposed by the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics(CSAAE), the workshop was aimed at

“providing the kind of information, tools and capacity building that will enhance Nigerian CSO leaders’ understanding of the IMF with a view to encourage them to sensitize other CSOs on the mission and modus operandi of IMF”. (Godswill Agbagwa, CSAAE founder).

Twelve (12) organizations were represented. Issues bordering on the overview and mission of IMF, the work of IMF in Nigeria and sub-region, how IMF interacts with CSOs, how to access CSOs capacity and competence building tools that are available at the IMF, how to access training and funding opportunities at the IMF as well as IMF focus areas were discussed. CSAAE was represented by our staff in charge of C-State, Miss Chinelo Ekwuonu and our founder. Miss Ekwuonu acknowledges to have learnt practical ways that CSOs can facilitate IMF’s work and ultimately, the progress of Nigeria’s economy. She plans to host on behalf of the center, inspired by the knowledge acquired during the seminar, a step down seminar by the first quarter of 2020.
