EMPOWERING WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE: CSAAE PARTNERS FRUGRACH FARMS TO TRAIN OVER 3O WOMEN IN OSISIOMA LOCAL  GOVERNMENT AREA, ON CLIMATE SMART POULTRY MANAGEMENT

In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices and empowering women in rural communities, the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE) has joined hands with FRUGRACH FARMS to provide comprehensive training to over 30 women in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State. The focus of this training is on climate-smart poultry management, equipping women with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the changing agricultural landscape.

Climate change poses significant challenges to the agricultural sector, affecting crop yields, livestock management, and overall food security. Recognizing the importance of adapting agricultural practices to mitigate these challenges, CSAAE and FRUGRACH FARMS have come together to empower women in Osisioma with the tools to navigate and excel in climate-smart poultry management.

The Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE) has long been at the forefront of promoting sustainable development in various communities across Nigeria.

The training program, conducted in collaboration with FRUGRACH FARMS, covers a wide range of topics related to climate-smart poultry management. Participants were exposed to best practices in poultry farming, sustainable feed management, disease prevention, and the use of modern technology to enhance productivity.

Some of the key aspects of the training program include:

Climate-Resilient Farming Techniques: Participants learn how to adapt their poultry farming practices to withstand the challenges posed by climate change. This includes strategies for managing extreme weather events, optimizing resource use, and promoting environmental sustainability.

Effective Disease Management: The training program equips women with knowledge on identifying and preventing common poultry diseases. Implementing effective disease management practices is crucial for maintaining the health and well-being of the poultry stock.

Technological Integration: Participants are introduced to modern technologies that can enhance the efficiency of poultry farming. This includes the use of data analytics, smart farming tools, and other innovations to optimize production and reduce resource inputs.

This initiative goes beyond imparting technical knowledge; it is a significant step towards empowering women in the Osisioma community. By providing these women with the skills to manage climate-smart poultry farming, CSAAE, and FRUGRACH FARMS are fostering economic independence, creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, and promoting gender equality in the agricultural sector.

The knowledge and skills gained by the women through this training program will have a cascading effect, positively influencing the entire community and contributing to the overall development of the region.
