EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES: CSAAE FACILITATES AN ACCESS TO HEALTH INSURANCE OUTREACH AT THE ANNUNCIATION CATHOLIC CHURCH

In a world where access to healthcare remains a privilege for many, the Center for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE) took a significant step towards bridging the gap by organizing an access to health insurance outreach at the Annunciation Catholic Church Umuguma Housing Estate Parish Owerri, Imo state.

This initiative created an awareness on essential health care services available in both the Imo State and National Health Insurance Health Insurance Scheme as well as their registration processes and requirements.

On the serene morning at the parish, amidst the gentle hum of prayers and spiritual contemplation, CSAAE’s outreach touched the lives of approximately 800 congregants who attended the 6.30 and 8.30 am masses. Amidst them, ninety six 96 individuals stepped forward to avail themselves of blood sugar and high blood pressure screenings, a simple yet crucial step towards understanding their health status.

Among these participants, two individuals were faced with alarming results. With a blood sugar level of 330 and a blood pressure reading of 222/119, it became evident that immediate intervention was necessary. CSAAE’s dedicated team provided counseling and swiftly referred them to the nearest general hospital for further evaluation and treatment. This timely response not only highlighted the importance of regular health screenings but also underscored the critical role of community-driven initiatives in safeguarding public health.

The impact of CSAAE’s outreach extends far beyond the walls of the church. By reaching out to the community members, particularly those who may lack access to regular healthcare services, CSAAE is fostering a culture of health awareness and empowerment.

Through initiatives like these, CSAAE continues to be a beacon of hope, championing the cause of accessible health insurance  for all.

As we reflect on the success of this outreach, it stands as a  reminder of the profound difference that small acts of kindness and compassion can make in the lives of individuals and communities alike.
