CSAAE trains Poultry Farmers in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Climate Smart Agriculture

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is becoming increasingly vital in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. In Yanagoa, a city nestled in the heart of Nigeria’s oil-rich Niger Delta region, CSAAE (Center for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics), took proactive steps to equip poultry farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a changing climate.

Yanagoa, like many other regions, faces the brunt of erratic weather patterns, rising temperatures, and increased pest and disease pressures, all of which adversely affect poultry farming. CSAAE’s initiative,e focused on imparting innovative farming techniques that enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impacts.

Through the workshop and training programs, farmers in Yanagoa are learning about sustainable poultry management, water-saving practices, and organic feed production. Additionally, CSAAE using Climate Smart Agricultural principles, encouraged farmers to adopt eco-friendly practices like rainwater harvesting and waste recycling.

CSAAE’s efforts not only bolster local farmers’ resilience but also contribute to food security and environmental sustainability. By promoting climate-smart agriculture, Yanagoa is taking a significant stride towards a more secure and sustainable poultry farming future in the face of climate uncertainties.
