Meet John Joel Bauna

John Joel Bauna

John Joel Bauna is a native of Tula in Kaltungo LGA of Gombe state, Nigeria. A graduate of Biochemistry from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and currently a post graduate student studying Nutrition at the master’s level in the same institution.

Joel’s big dream is to become a prominent and global consultant in Public Health and Nutrition and looks forward to working with organizations such as W.H.O, UNICEF or government establishments that will enable him to build this career. He is also passionate about young people’s involvement in good governance and policy making.

As an undergraduate, he joined the Effective Leaders Program, (ELP), of the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE), in 2014. A mentoring program, designed to channel young people into activities that build leaders of character, cultivate spirit of entrepreneurship, promote good governance, transparency and accountability in government, and promote mentorship among African youth.

John Joel Bauna completed the intensive ELP training in 2017 and joined the Centre’s Network of Effective African Leaders (NEAL); a close-knit of like-minds working together with the sole aim of taking over the leadership of Africa for good.

Joel is currently a post-graduate fellow at CSAAE, a status he rose to after emerging best applicant. As a fellow, he has a full scholarship covering his tuition for his two-year master’s program in Nutrition as well as monthly stipends.

As the Centre’s fellow, he coordinates the Effective Leaders Program of CSAAE, the same training he passed through as an emerging leader when he joined in 2014. He manages and coordinates the ELP activities of the Centre by working closely with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the activities. The fellowship is an opportunity that exposes him to gain experience in working in social development organizations like CSAAE.
