Bridging the Gender Gap in Tech
CSAAE PREMIERES DOCUMENTARY ON THE TRAVAILS OF WOMEN IN THE DIGITAL SPACE
The recent UN Women Nigeria Country Gender Equality Report highlights a pressing issue: women in Imo State have alarmingly low participation in the tech industry. In response, the Center for Social Awareness, Advocacy, and Ethics (CSAAE) premiered a groundbreaking documentary, “The Travails of Women in the Digital Space.” Click here DIGI-WOMEN: A Documentary on The Travails of Women in the Digital Space to watch the documentary.
The documentary premiere was a significant event, featuring a robust panel discussion on critical issues raised in the film, such as gender imbalance, gender profiling, and lack of access to connectivity. Esteemed panelists included Prof. Mrs. Udoka Eze, Dean of the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT) at FUTO; Dr. Mrs. Blessing Azubuike, Director at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Groups, Imo State; Dr. Mrs. Ijeoma Emeagi, Council Member of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria; and Ms. Francesca Ekwuonu, Chief Operating Officer of CSAAE, amongst others.
The event attracted women from diverse backgrounds with a shared interest in technology, including female senior secondary students, highlighting the community’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for women in tech.
To further the conversation and drive actionable change, CSAAE has launched the DIGIWOMEN Community.
