ELEVATING HEALTHCARE STANDARDS: CSAAE CHAMPIONS HEALTHCAREETHICS WORSHOP AT FEDERAL TEACHNG HOSPITAL ABAKALIKI
In a significant move to bolster ethical standards within Nigeria’s healthcare sector, CSAAE recently conducted a comprehensive workshop on healthcare ethics at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. The event, which drew a diverse audience of nurses, medical students, physicians, and medical college professors, was a fantastic opportunity to shed light on troubling ethical issues in the Nigerian healthcare industry.
Attendees were enlightened by CSAAE’s esteemed team of medical ethicists, hailing from across the globe.
These experts covered a range of crucial topics, including the principles of healthcare ethics, privacy and confidentiality challenges in Nigeria, and ethical guidelines for healthcare professionals in the realms of research, social media, and AI.
The workshop saw the active participation of the Chief Medical Director (CMD), college principals, and staff of FETHA 1, underscoring the importance and relevance of the event.
The engaging sessions sparked thoughtful discussions and provided actionable insights, reinforcing the necessity of adhering to ethical standards in healthcare practice.
CSAAE firmly believes that a lack of commitment to professional ethics is a significant barrier to Nigeria’s development.
To address this, CSAAE has established an ethics office, led by a dedicated full-time ethics officer, to promote professional and business ethics across various sectors.
