Imo Assembly Seeks Revival of Imo Orientation Agency for Proper Information Dissemination

The Imo State House of Assembly Has Urged Gov. Hope Uzodinma to mandate the State Ministry of Information to urgently revive the State Orientation Agency and use it for proper information dissemination and other issues of positive impact.

The house made the call on Tuesday during a plenary session, following a motion sponsored by Mr James Esile (Onuimo).

While presenting the motion, Esile noted that the infrastructural and human capital develonment efforts of the governor should be properly communicated to people of the state, especially rural dwellers.

He added that the proper dissemination of the impacts of the state government will promote peace and inclusivity as well as positive reorientation.

The lawmaker further noted that the reorientation of Imo citizens cut across all spheres and will have a positive impact especially on the youth.

He therefore prayed the house to urge the governor to mandate the State Ministry of Information, to urgently revive the State Orientation Agency and use it for proper dissemination of information on the developmental strides of his government and other issues of positive impact.

Supporting the motion, Dr Ikenna Ihezuo (Orlu) agreed that it is necessary to revive the agency as it will raise awareness and positively change attitudes and values of people of the state.

Mr Okechukwu Udeze (Ideato-North) noted that the agency has an important role to play in projecting a positive image of the state.

He added that if the proper image of the state is projected, it would open doors for investments while publicizing the achievements of the state government.

Following more contributions in favor of the motion, the Speaker, Mr Chike Olemgbe (Ihitte Uboma) ruled in favor of the motion.

He also directed the Clerk, Mrs Chinelo Emeghara to communicate the resolution to the office of the governor and other relevant agencies.
