STOP NEGLECTING OUR CHILDREN IN RURAL PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS
In 2023, we published a report on the status of primary education delivery in Southeast Nigeria. The report was a product of a thorough investigation of the quality of primary education delivery in Southeast Nigeria conducted by 185 trained young researchers. The research was funded by the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) Udo Jude Ilo
The report revealed that out of the 1800 primary schools investigated in the Southeast, none met 50% of the minimum requirements for primary education set by UBEC Universal Basic Education Commission – UBEC. Majority of the primary schools investigated did not have toilets, desks, chairs, enough teachers, sufficient classroms, adequate teaching and learning materials, etc. Read full report here: https://online.pubhtml5.com/rzjf/zfky/#p=1

Challenged by this shocking discovery, we restructured our C-EDU program (CSAAE EDUCATION INITIATIVE) to respond to these shameful challenges.
C-EDU (cedu.csaaeinc.org) is a nonprofit education management and service initiative that seeks to achieve quality, inclusive and affordable primary education delivery in Nigeria through a combination of project and market based approaches.
We advocate for more investments in primary education calling on the government, alumni, communities, philanthropists and donors to do more to improve the quality of primary education in Nigeria.
We also provide services such as teachers training and development including TARL; SMARTED/EDUTECH training and infrastructural support; agro and sports development training and equipment support; WASH and First Aid training and facilities support, etc.

Additionally, we deliver cutting edge teaching and learning materials to schools and parents so our pupils especially those in underserved rural communities are not left behind.
Last Friday, we did what we do best. We equipped up to hundred poor pupils from across rural Imo with one full academic year school kit including shoes, notebooks, textbooks, etc. Up to a hundred more pupils received books and other learning materials to support their education.
The handout event held at Community Primary School Umueze Amaimo in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, one of the primary schools in underserved rural community in Imo state. Here is a recent coverage of the school by our advocacy team.
We thank Fidelity Bank Plc and many individual donors for their support. We also thank the IMSUBEB Secretary Imo State Universal Basic Education Board for attending the event, listening to the plight of teachers and promising to do more to improve quality primary education delivery in Imo state.
C-EDU’s back to school project is an ongoing project. It will end when all pupils in Nigeria and Africa have adequate learning materials.
