2023 Presidential Aspirants and their plans

Over the past few months, several Nigerian politicians have made their intentions known on matters concerning the presidential seats. Here are some 2023 Presidential Election Aspirants;

Atiku Abubakar

On the 23rd of March 2022, Atiku Abubakar, Former Vice President of Nigeria declared his intention to contest for the presidential election set to hold in 2023. He made the declaration at the international Conference Center, Abuja. If you do not know much about Atiku Abubakar, then read on to get to know this presidential candidate.  These are some of the promises he made during his declaration;

  • His administration would create alternative sources of foreign exchange supply to Nigeria and reduce importation to increase the value of the Naira. 
  • They would ensure absolute security 
  • They would reduce government borrowing. 
  • His administration would provide free education to every Nigerian, at lea3st up to the secondary school level. 

  Bola Tinubu

The former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has declared his intention to run for presidency in 2023. He declared this in January 2022 when he mentioned that he has consulted with President Muhammadu Buhari. The popular Nigerian politician later went on to state his agendas. Bola Tinubu stated that his administration would carry out the following;

  • support strategically important industries to employ large numbers of young people for them to unleash their productive capacity and boundless energy.
  • increase food production while lowering consumer prices.
  • improve the rural road network and fund refrigeration systems for use by farmers and merchants in major local markets in each state to combat food spoilage. 
  • revise and finance Nigeria’s mortgage institutions so they can provide affordable residential mortgages to youths 
  • massive national infrastructure plan 
  • make potable water readily available in our cities. 
  • reform the electrical and power sector necessary to power businesses and homes at affordable prices.  

Yemi Osinbajo

Yemi Osinbajo is the current Vice President of Nigeria and has held this position since 2015 leading the country. He has also declared his intention to contest for the 2023 presidential election  alongside his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari. In his words, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo promised to lead Nigeria well on the basis of his experience as the Vice President for eight years. He said, ‘I’ve stood where you stand and sat where you sit. I know and I understand our hopes, aspirations and fears from a place of relatable proximity; and I believe that in those hopes and aspirations are the seeds for the great Nigeria that we all desire.’ 

Some other aspirants include Peter Obi, Chibuike Amechi, Nyesom Wike, Bokula Saraki, Omoyele Sowore, Kingsley Moghalu, Yahaya Bello, Chukwuka Monye and a host of others. Indeed it seems more aspirants are springing up daily to declare their intention.
