Sanitation of the Environment Through Cleanliness (SET-C)
BY: EGBUOKPORO CHARLES CHIZITERE
THE BIRTH OF SET-C
My name is Egbuokporo Charles Chizitere. I’m a native of Umuchoke Orji, Owerri North LGA Imo State. I’m a student of Optometry in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Imo State University, Owerri. I have always had the burning desire to improve the quality of life of the Nigerian citizens . I am among the few individuals who still believe that positive change could be possible in Nigeria.
There are a lot of areas that need improvement and restructuring if the change we expect in our country would come. These areas include Education, health care, sanitation, job opportunities, youth reorientation, etc.
My admission into the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) in 2016 ignited the pre-existing passion in me to do something for Nigeria.
I decided to work on health care and environmental sanitation. This gave birth to my Community Development Project (CDP)- Sanitation of the Environment Through Cleanliness (SET-C).
SET-C tries to enlighten the general public and most especially students in the high schools and Colleges to embrace the culture of proper waste disposal and also to imbibe healthy habits that will boost good health.
SET-C achieves this by making constructive sensitisations on the need to observe proper waste disposal.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with just a step. Little by little, Nigerians will definitely see the need for environmental Sanitation and of course, the SET-C team will be in line making Nigeria a better place.
My name is Anuchirim Okwukwe Shedrack, I’m a native of Obinamaku Oboro Ifakala Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli L.G.A., Imo State. Currently, I’m an undergraduate student of Imo State University, Owerri. I’m the fourth child of six children in my family. I am an advocate of truth and a preacher of peace, and my flairs are: writing, teaching and speaking.
My big dreams are: to become a Professor at a youthful age, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Prior to some rigorous processes, I was officially selected as a member into the Emerging Leaders Project (ELP) of the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAEINC) in 2017. I had begun to dream of making great impacts in the society, but most times, I was discouraged due to certain prevailing circumstances. However, CSAAEINC has been the “solid stone” on which I firmly stand. There have been both conscious and unconscious transformations in my life since I joined CSAAEINC; character reformation, time consciousness, innovative and critical thinking, all these, form part of the innumerable gains.
Currently, am collaboratively working with a fellow Emerging Nigerian Leader Egbuokporo Charles on a Community Development Project (CDP) termed “Sanitation of the Environment Through Cleanliness” (SET-C). SET-C is a product of CSAAEINC, poised with the vision of reshaping the minds of the general masses on environmental cleanliness, and restoring the lost passion and longer for sanitation. We tend to achieve this through constructive sensitization and practical demonstrations. Though, the journey may seem far, but we believe that a step taken counts.
